Say wha?!?!
Abouts the pics!
My dad thought I had an eye for interesting photos so for Christmas about 2002-ish he bought me a Canon camera off eBay. In 2008 I bought a Sigma macro lens because I wanted to get close up shots of really neat bugs. I have taken buckets of photos. But, all amateur. To be fair, I don’t know what more than half of the buttons on my camera actually do and how they affect my photos. I don’t use any artificial light sources and I don’t own a tripod. These aren’t fancy professional photos, just shots that I thought were interesting.
I can work my way around photo editing, but I wanted these pics to be RAW shots. No editing, no color adjustment. I’d like to edit some in the future before I print them (if I do), but I don’t have the time to give them all a fine tunin’. If you like any of the photos, please just email me. I’d be happy to send you an archive size RAW format photo to print or use for free. But remember – stealing isn’t nice. Sharing is.
And the details!
I like neat things, especially biology-esque neat things. For all pics that I’m posting I am +attempting+ to identify the bird/bug/plant/etc. From there I’ll try and read up via wikipedia.org, bugguide.net, whatsthatbug.com and other favorite sources to provide a synopsis of… well, why I think the subject is neat enough to know about. I’m sure some of my info may be wrong and any corrections offered will be much appreciated.
Oh me!
I’m Ashley. I get really excited about awesome nerdy stuff! I have a superb husband [who does a pretty good job putting up with my antics], two neurotic cats and a comfy home. Life is good. Though I am awful chatty, this blog was created to display a few of my photos for my family & friends & anyone else interested. My illogical and unnecessary rants live elsewhere.
No-Fun

Yes! Can we have them be of bugs and plants and such? I want to keep this site littered with that kind of stuff. I’m working on another project for all other randomness.
&+ I hope you are still living in the same place. I have something fantastic to send you.
Great site, Ashley, and stellar name. I love your pics.
What can I say…… I am so impressed! These are ALL amazing pictures! These pictures all show more than great talent. There is so much passion and it shows in each picture, which is what makes them even better to view. What a good things to photograph and study…… the simple things, that keep us in the present moment!
Great blog and outstanding photos! When time permits I hope you’ll let me share my several hundred picture strong portfolio of flora…lol.
Hey Ashley!
Awesome gallery here.. I am a nature enthusiast myself, and currently own a search engine marketing firm..
That makes the 2 of us!

Neat idea. I can’t think off-hand of a nature photographer who commits to no post-processing. It was of course a principle of Cartier-Bresson’s that he always printed the full negative without post-processing – no dodging etc. while enlarging. “Create the picture in the camera.” Except he said it in French.
But I can’t think of anyone who’s taken on such a principle with such subjects. It’s an interesting thought.
