Common Checkered Skipper

Common Checkered Skipper
Pyrgus communis

Easily mistaken for a homely butterfly or moth, a skipper is closer to a butterfly with a fuzzy body. This one is probably a female because the male’s have broader white bands.
This one was friendly enough to land on my hand for a bit and say hello. It was a hot, humid lazy summer day in Miami walking outside of Jimbo’s around Virginia key. A peculiar place that holds simply awesome memories. And lots of fantastic critters!
