Leucojum vernum
Also may be a Spring Snowflake, but I’m only taking guesses.

A Southern garden favorite!

Bulbs! Glorious bulbs!

These little dainty flowers aren’t from the US – but have been introduced and do quite well in many areas in North America. The leaves of the plant are dark green and long and narrow – sort of like a Crocus blade. The little bell shaped flowers have a subtle green dot at the end of each petal.

The flower has bigger cousins that have yellow dots, rather than the green ones.

The flowers are only slightly fragrant and can be one of the most understated members in the garden. The word Leucojum is Latin for white violet – which also carries its only subtle, but incredibly elusive fragrance. Also relating to the cosmetic industry – an aqueous extract from the flower is recently being touted as a Botox anti-aging alternative or something of the sort via Israeli Biotechnology scientists.
